Assessment of Ship Fuel Consumption for Different Hull Roughness in Realistic Weather Conditions

This paper presents the effect of hull roughness over 10 years operation on ship performance. The numerical model is developed by coupling NavCad and Matlab to perform computation data processing. On basis a given hull, an engine, optimized propeller, performance computed for eight cases according ITTC recommendations in both calm waters different weather conditions along route. wind waves considered computing added resistance route, thus requiring more power than just only waves. provides accurate estimation ship’s sea states. Lastly, weighted average main parameters estimated evaluate better According this study, fuel consumption water can be increased around 20% after based level roughness. However, same 10% compared trip with clean hull.
